This washed Catuai from Finca El Pedrero is a bright and beautifully balanced expression of Honduras’ Montecillos highlands. Grown by Ernelio Ortiz at 1,750 MASL, the farm’s steep elevation and cool evenings create ideal conditions for slow cherry development and natural sweetness. Careful washed processing preserves the coffee’s clean structure and lively fruit character. Expect juicy pear, bright orange citrus and smooth honey sweetness, coming together in an elegant cup with sparkling acidity and a soft, lingering finish.

Origin Story

Ernelio Ortiz owns and manages Finca El Pedrero, a 12-hectare farm high in the dramatic Montecillos region of Honduras. Almost the entire property is planted with coffee, with approximately 56,000 trees growing alongside smaller areas of avocado. Catuai and IHCAFE 90 are the farm’s principal varieties.
For Ernelio, coffee has brought meaningful improvements to the life of his family, strengthening his commitment to both quality and the land that supports it. He believes that caring for the farm’s environment has directly contributed to better coffee and, in turn, better prices for his crop. At 1,750 metres, Montecillos’ steep terrain and cool evenings provide an ideal setting for that approach, encouraging slow ripening and the development of sweetness and complexity.

Our sourcing philosophy

Every coffee has a story. Every cup connects people. Sourcing coffee is not just about logistics and contracts. It’s about people, patience, and purpose. Every bag of green coffee represents someone’s work, someone’s story, and a shared pursuit of excellence.

Our relationships are built at Origin. We create partnerships built on respect, shared goals, and good coffee. We believe the best coffees come from long-term partnerships. Many of our producers have worked with us for years, refining the characteristics of the coffee we seek. These relationships are built on mutual respect and open communication. Travelling to visit our producing partners is key to nurturing relationships that matter.

Consistency and quality

From origin to roastery, every step is about consistency. Every shipment we receive is cupped and compared against its pre-ship sample to confirm that the coffee matches the quality and profile we expect. It’s a process that demands time and focus, but it’s what ensures every batch of Deluca coffee delivers on flavour and reliability.
