This washed Heirloom Ethiopian lot from Harowacho village in Uraga, Guji, offers a bright and delicate cup shaped by high elevations of 1900-2300 MASL. Ripe cherries are hand-picked and delivered to the Harsu Sala washing station, where they’re density-sorted, fermented for 72 hours, fully washed and dried on African raised beds for 5-8 days. The result is a clean, luminous profile: juicy nectarine sweetness, zesty lime acidity and fragrant jasmine aromatics. A classic Guji expression, floral, lifted and beautifully refined.

Flavour notes: Nectarine, Lime, Jasmine

Origin Story

This lot comes from the heart of Ethiopia’s Guji Zone, Uraga district, sourced from smallholders surrounding the village of Harowacho, a community established 14 years ago by Bisrat Melaku. Farmers deliver ripe cherries from plots nestled between mountain Quto and the Seboba River - a landscape known for its altitude, rich rainfall and ideal microclimates.
At the Harsu Sala washing station, cherries are carefully sorted through density channels, fermented for 72 hours, washed and checked for defects. Drying takes place for 5-8 days on well-maintained African raised beds designed to maximise airflow and prevent over-fermentation or mould. With elevations reaching 2300 MASL, long drying times and cool nights contribute to clarity, floral aromatics and the signature brightness that defines this region’s best washed coffees.

Process & care

Our sourcing philosophy

Every coffee has a story. Every cup connects people. Sourcing coffee is not just about logistics and contracts. It’s about people, patience, and purpose. Every bag of green coffee represents someone’s work, someone’s story, and a shared pursuit of excellence.

Our relationships are built at Origin. We create partnerships built on respect, shared goals, and good coffee. We believe the best coffees come from long-term partnerships. Many of our producers have worked with us for years, refining the characteristics of the coffee we seek. These relationships are built on mutual respect and open communication. Travelling to visit our producing partners is key to nurturing relationships that matter.

Consistency and quality

From origin to roastery, every step is about consistency. Every shipment we receive is cupped and compared against its pre-ship sample to confirm that the coffee matches the quality and profile we expect. It’s a process that demands time and focus, but it’s what ensures every batch of Deluca coffee delivers on flavour and reliability.
