This natural lot from Finca Madre Tierra reflects Thelma de Gutierrez's lifelong passion for coffee. A third-generation producer in Ahuachapán, El Salvador, Thelma carefully cultivates Catuai, Icatu and Sarchimor beneath native shade trees at 1,200 MASL. Ripe cherries are selectively handpicked and slowly sun dried on raised beds for up to 20 days, developing remarkable sweetness and complexity. The result is a vibrant, fruit-forward cup with refreshing lemonade brightness, ripe melon sweetness and a gentle ginger spice that lingers through a clean finish.

Origin Story

Coffee has shaped Thelma de Gutierrez's life since childhood. Raised on her family's coffee farm, she spent harvest seasons surrounded by the aroma of ripe cherries before purchasing Finca Madre Tierra in 2006 and continuing her family's third-generation coffee legacy.
Perched in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range near Ataco, the farm combines fertile volcanic soils, natural spring water and native shade trees to create an ideal growing environment. Thelma is committed to sustainable farming, using natural ecological methods to manage pests and disease while protecting the surrounding ecosystem. Guided by her belief that "my love and passion for coffee is what keeps us going," she continues to refine quality year after year while caring for both the land and the community it supports.

Our sourcing philosophy

Every coffee has a story. Every cup connects people. Sourcing coffee is not just about logistics and contracts. It’s about people, patience, and purpose. Every bag of green coffee represents someone’s work, someone’s story, and a shared pursuit of excellence.

Our relationships are built at Origin. We create partnerships built on respect, shared goals, and good coffee. We believe the best coffees come from long-term partnerships. Many of our producers have worked with us for years, refining the characteristics of the coffee we seek. These relationships are built on mutual respect and open communication. Travelling to visit our producing partners is key to nurturing relationships that matter.

Consistency and quality

From origin to roastery, every step is about consistency. Every shipment we receive is cupped and compared against its pre-ship sample to confirm that the coffee matches the quality and profile we expect. It’s a process that demands time and focus, but it’s what ensures every batch of Deluca coffee delivers on flavour and reliability.
