This natural lot from Bengala in Chinchiná, Colombia, delivers a vivid expression of high altitude coffee from the mountains of Caldas. Grown at 1,700-1,800 MASL from Castillo and Cenicafé 1, ripe cherries are hand selected and fermented whole in sealed tanks for 100 hours before slow sun drying. The result is an intensely fruit driven yet balanced cup, bursting with ripe mango and delicate lychee sweetness, lifted by bright grapefruit acidity and a clean, lingering finish.

Origin Story

Hidden high in the mountains of Caldas, far from the nearest village, Bengala is the farm of producer Sebastián Muñoz. Before turning his attention to coffee production, Sebastián worked in finance and advised Colombian coffee exporters, giving him an unusual perspective on the journey coffee takes from producer to roaster.
Today, he brings that knowledge to both cultivation and processing at Bengala. For this natural lot, only fully ripe cherries are selected before flotation removes lower density fruit. The cherries are then sealed whole in tanks with restricted oxygen and circulating CO₂ for 100 hours, followed by 15-18 days of sun drying. It is a carefully managed process designed to amplify fruit and complexity while maintaining balance in the cup.

Our sourcing philosophy

Every coffee has a story. Every cup connects people. Sourcing coffee is not just about logistics and contracts. It’s about people, patience, and purpose. Every bag of green coffee represents someone’s work, someone’s story, and a shared pursuit of excellence.

Our relationships are built at Origin. We create partnerships built on respect, shared goals, and good coffee. We believe the best coffees come from long-term partnerships. Many of our producers have worked with us for years, refining the characteristics of the coffee we seek. These relationships are built on mutual respect and open communication. Travelling to visit our producing partners is key to nurturing relationships that matter.

Consistency and quality

From origin to roastery, every step is about consistency. Every shipment we receive is cupped and compared against its pre-ship sample to confirm that the coffee matches the quality and profile we expect. It’s a process that demands time and focus, but it’s what ensures every batch of Deluca coffee delivers on flavour and reliability.
