Brew with Hario V60
What you’ll need
Filter-roast coffee
Scale
Steps in more detail.
Boil a kettle of fresh tap water (use filtered water or bottled water if you do not have access to soft water)
Weigh 12g (for 1 serving) or 24g (for 2 servings) of fresh coffee
Grind it (close to the coarseness of table salt or a little coarse for 2 servings)
Fold the side edge of the paper filter before opening and placing it into the V60.
Place the V60 on the server.
Thoroughly rinse the paper filter with hot water until the papery smell is gone.
Drain the rinse water from the server.
Place the V60 and the server on the scale and carefully add the freshly ground coffee, followed by a gentle shake to flatten the surface of the coffee grounds.
Tare the scale.
Start the timer and gently pour 3-4 times of water to the amount of coffee used.
Use a teaspoon to stir the slurry well.
Gradually add the rest of 200g water (for 1 serving) or 390g (for 2 servings) over the course of 1-2 mins. Make sure to pour evenly over the entire coffee bed and maintain the water level to be 2-3cm from the coffee bed.
Once draining stops, discard the spent coffee and the paper.
Enjoy your brew!
